ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is Makayla Gregory and I am a Sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I'm a Pre-Elementary Education Major and am minoring in Children's Literature and Childhood Studies. My heart has held a special place for writing from the beginning of my existence. I enjoy writing because through it there are numerous ways to express your thoughts and ideas. I also feel that writing can incorporate your own personality into a professional piece that you can call your own. While looking through my portfolio and reading my compositions, remember that everyone has to start somewhere, and these pieces are products of hard work and dedication.
Writer's statement
Writing is an exceptionally flexible technique that is most commonly used for expression. It is also a way for skills and learned material to be turned into something original. People of all ages write every single day. It is a form of communication that can be completed in a professional way or an informal way.
If an article contains urgency, rhetorical devices, and a message then it can be taken seriously and can teach the audience something, or influence them in some way. Writing is the most effective way to complete assignments as a college student. Taking logos, ethos and pathos in consideration when writing will definitely make for an effective piece. Something else I have recently learned is that exigency is dire and when you are formulating your thoughts and ideas you must do so in a way that will connect with the audience, or else your writing will not meet your reader's needs.
I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I believe that everyone can be a writer, whether they like to admit it or not. Sometimes it is difficult to put your thoughts into words. On the other hand, putting your ideas on paper is not very hard and is a very effective technique that can be used to get your brain flowing. That is exactly what writing is to me: transforming basic ideas and interests into a finalized piece of professional originality. I am a passionate writer. If I don't have strong thoughts on a subject, then I do not typically write about it. I put my all into my work, especially when it comes to writing, and I want my audience to be able to capture that from my portfolio.
In composed discourse I value freedom. Writing has the general rules of grammar and punctuation, but other than that there shouldn’t be strict rules and guidelines to how and what you write. I think that the whole point of writing is to say what is on your mind in a professional way that will gain someone’s attention. If your writing sounds like a script or something that is fake and rehearsed, then it defeats the whole purpose. I created this presentation to catch exactly who I am as a writer. I hope that while reading my compositions and viewing my website you will see the love that I have for writing. I want to be able to portray my relationships with each and every topic that I have written about in this presentation. My portfolio is designed to capture my opinions on certain things, demonstrate my stance on topics, provide information and show my strengths, weaknesses and improvements.
